Why does Verizon insist on screwing over it's DSL customers by needlessly charging for an analog line when it's not required for DSL service? DSL uses the third copper wire which makes it "Dedicated" as in "Dedicated Subscriber Line".
Umm, DSL does not use a "third" copper wire. It uses the exact same pair of wires used for analog telphone service.
DSL operates by using frequencies outside of the range used for voice communication, over the same pair of wires used for analog telephone service. That's why you need DSL filters on all the non-DSL equipment in your home.
Some companies will sell a "dry" DSL service, which means the copper pair does not have voice telephone enabled, but Verizon does not.
Oh, you should also know that "DSL means "Digital Subscriber LIne.
Enjoy.
