We want to cancel our Digital Voice phone as we have 3 cell phones in the house so why bother with a landline- is there any way to do it online? Also we have FIOS Internet 50MB service - can anyone tell me what the standalone price would be for this service in the Syracuse,NY area -I tried calling customer service and they said they couldn't give me a figure until I cancel the phone service and just gave me a guestimate of $59 to $79 - seriously?? If we cancel the phone service and it turns out to be $79 then TW here we come!
I've never seen any online cancel options from Verizon. They want you to call in to cancel so they can talk to you about it.
You can check online pricing easily, just plug in your neighbors address and see what pops up. Note that new customer pricing and specials will most likely not be available to you. In my area, 50/50 is $65/mo under contract or $80/mo with no contract. With phone, it's $80/mo with or without a contract. But, you might have specials or other discounts available where you live or if you ask nice.
Your best option may be to speak to a Verizon retention specialist. Call in and select the options to cancel service. Do it during business hours and you should get a helpful agent.
Good Luck.
Thanks for your reply-I was actually able to get through to someone that gave me a quote-I wish I lived where you live . The quotes I got were $89.99 and $74.99 for 50/50 and 25/25 Internet respectively with no contract and they offer a discount of a whopping $5 if you lock in to a 2 year contract. Even more ridiculous is I currently pay $99 for phone and 50/50 Internet with no contract so I guess they are saying the phone service is only worth $10. Oh well -looks like I'll be heading to TW as they have far better prices
.
Henry
do you have contract?
Nope I do not have a contract but they have been pestering me to lock into one for 2 years for a whopping $10 off a month. Like I previously posted I pay $99 for phone and 50/50 internet but actually it turns out to be more after all the surcharges fees , ,taxes and I pay $4.50 to have my number unlisted (seriously Verizon ??). It's obvious Verizon does not want to retain customers by the highly uncompetitive prices they offered me.
Wait, new promotion for new costomer, 50/50 internet & LOCAL Channels Tv only $ 59.99, check it out.
