Canceling my land line, but forwarding that number to my cell phone

I want to temrinate my land line number, but would like to either forward it to my cell phone, or replace my existing cell phone number with my house number.  Are either of those options available ?  Cost ?  Thanks !

1.    If you terminate your land line that number will not belong to you.   At some point it will be reasigned to someone else.  So you could not forward it.

2.   You can request a specific number.  Businesses do that at times.  But I've not heard of an individual doing it and am doubtful that you can get it.  But if the number you want is free, you may get lucky.   You will have to invest some time calling customer service to get a definitive answer.

I'm not sure, but if you can port a "house" number to another provider, you can probably port a "house" number to a mobile provider.  Check with your wireless provider for a definitive answer.
