Our new digital voice works, but a few people who attempt calling say they are receiving a "number disconnected" recording, but other calls are coming and going. Anyone ever run into this? The service constantly works at the house!

You need to understand "who" the callers phone service provider is when they receive this message and see if there is a common thread. It probable that someone (maybe even Verizon's copper service) didn't properly release the number during the port and their switches are dead-ending the call rather than routing out for completion.

Not always but often my phone rings I pick up to a dead line. Callers later tell me that they had called. To them it rang four or five times and got a recording that the call could not be connected at this time try again later.
Verizone is incapable to repair this problem. Would disconnecting my verizon voice mail service do the trick?
