My home phone keeps getting turned OFF about maybe every two weeks, I call up tech support, they send someone out, they turn it back on, then I'm good for about two weeks, sometimes less. The tech says there is something wrong with their hardware. It gets real hot and in turn kicks in their safety feature, which then shuts down my home phone. Then I have to call tech up and they turn it back on. But it is only a temporary fix. It just happened today 4-20-2010. I would hate to cancel the landline, because the number I have has been with me for like forever.
what can i do? who can i call? i'm sure it's gonna happen again.
I just wanted to say if you do cancle you can most likely take your number with you. We ditched our verizon landline a few months ago and the number we had for 20yrs. was ported to my verizon cell very easily and I had no problems with the change over. Friends have switched from verizon to Time Warner digital phone and also got to take their number. Mary
thanks for the reply. i do not intend to go with Time Warner, at least not yet, because I do not trust that technology either. Because my cable goes out once in awhile. but good to know that i can keep my number.
I just filed a complaint with the FCC, lets see if it'll me...

Don't know where you are at but here in NY Time Warner phone is wonderfull as my friends all have it. I don't make a lot of calls or would have swtiched to it for the deal since we use them for TV and internet anyway. You wouldn't even know they have it when talking to them on the phone unless they told you and they have no issues with it. The only draw back is when the power goes out the phone goes out so no battery back up like verizon fios but it does work well and we don't have a lot of storms and power outages here. Mary
hopefully the FCC complaint will work, but I have not heard anything back from them...so I don't know if it did me any good complaining to them. But my phone is in working order, for now...
phone is still in working order, but have not heard anything from the FCC...
well guess what it is now OFF again. **bleep** u Verizon for forcing me to cancel. a lot of good that FCC complaint did. getting rid of everything verizon, including the cell phone. even though there's nothing wrong with my cell phone.

Oh that is too bad it's out again. Don't blame you for being mad and dropping them. I actually love not having a home phone anymore. I got to keep my same number of 20yrs. and I can get my calls where ever I am so no more dialing in to an answering machine at home. I don't miss the land line one bit. I hardly get any calls though. Hopefully it won't be terrible expensive to get out of you cell contract with them and switch. Mary
^^ i believe my contract with verizon wireless is up, i'm thinking of waiting for the new iphone, (if it actually gonna happen)...either that or go with Sprint. the only problem with using the cell phone as my main phone, is that it is not a secured phone, like when i call the bank they ask me for certain info. if i'm on the cell phone, people can eaves drop......and might be able to steal my ID.
*****SIGH******
it SUX that I can't get any other land line service because Verizon has the monopoly on it. I'll call TimeWarner to see how much it is to get their digital phone. I have there Road Runner internet service, i experienced outtage a few times, but it quickly came back on. hopefully it'll work for me ................
i hate u verizon...............
