Would like to ask to correct way to complain about robocalls. I am a follower of the twitter "endtherobocalls" and was referred to a website about current CA law and they said the first place to complain was with my phone carrier, then to file with the FTC and the CA Attorney General. I have been getting two kinds of robocalls. The first is from a collection agency whose call back number leads to a company currently under indictment by the Attorney General of WV. This company is based in OH. I have filed complaints with the FTC and the CA and OH Attorney Generals. The robocall has been daily since 9/9/09. The prerecorded message DOES NOT include the true name of the company or why it wants ME to call them back. Since we have not gotten a letter of validation as required by FTC regulations, I figure this is an attempt to acquire information about a third party. I have contacted a class action lawyer and am documenting each robocall. How can I get verizon to block this call? The second robocall starts off with "Hello, President Obama ...." and is it a pitch to refinance my mortgage. This has to be a scam as the company does not have a company name in the prerecorded message and it has no callback number. This is clearly an FTC violation. Since I don't have caller ID, I do not have the phone number of this scam. I just tried to see if maybe Verizon Call Assistant might work to get these scumbags digitally recorded and provide some proof of the call, but when I tried to see if this service was available, after I submitted my verizon account name and password I wound up at a "not found" message page. So how do I stop the robocalls and should I file with verizon first?
