I don't want or need home phone service

I haven't received a call on my home phone in years (telemarketers excluded).  What do I need to do to drop home phone service? I want to keep everything else they way it is. I also expect to see some reduction in my bill.  I'm scared to call CS because they always mess up something. 

Has anyone successfully done this?

Lots of people.

the one thing to remember is it may be cheaper to keep the bundled phone service.  Yes some bundles are such that removing phone service is MORE expensive.  You could just not plug in a phone.
