Line In Use / No Dial Tone for Days

I loose dial tone for my line one and off now for more than a year.  Verizon has come by couple of times, problem gets fixed and then it happens again.  This last time I don't have line for more than a month and I am tiered of arguing with Verizon.  I don't think the problem is my home wiring.  Does anyone else has this issue?
