Local directory charges for phones NOT IN PHONE BOOK

My most recent bill included charges for calls to directory assistance for phone numbers for my local POST OFFICES, which are NOT LISTED in the phone book! Seems the local Post Master has the say whether their office gets listed - they have to ask for a listing - for a Federal service which serves everyone. When you call directory assistance, they offer you a USPS national # which offers many services, but NOT any phone-tree option for local office phone numbers, AND ***NO*** OPTION TO SPEAK WITH A PERSON - you just can't get there! I feel I should not be charged for these calls! I received NO "assistance", got NO phone numbers! The phone book publishers take care to list many Local, State and Federal Govt. offices, but don't insist that all PO's be listed. WHY NOT?
