My landline service was recently changed from copper to fiber. Since that change occurred, I do not get a stutter dial tone (SDT) or see the Message Waiting Indicator light on my phone when someone leaves me a voice mail. As part of the upgrade to fiber, my VM box had to be re-provisioned (IIRC). I have seen elsewhere in this forum that there is an MWI setting that needs to be enabled (by VZ Tech Support). I have tried unsuccessfully to resolve this using the 800 support phone menu, and have not been able to reach a human in tech support.
