My phone will call or receive calls, but our voice mail box still getting messages

I now have another problem with this FIOS system, the phone will not work, even after I went out and bought a new phone.  The voice mail box still gets messages, and I can see the incoming calls on my television.  We still have internet service, just can't use the phone now
