This is a recurring problem and seems to really act up after significant rain fall.
We have no dial tone, but all of our services are on - we have voice mail (I check it from work) etc.
We have no DSL access - again, can access email from work.
I've tried changing phones - the phone indicator tells me there are messages, but still no dial tone.
I've been told to plug the phone into a test box - but my husband swears that our phone line goes directly into the pole. Is there somewhere else we should look (perhaps inside) for this mysterious test box?
And of course when I call for service I'm told the earliest is Friday between 8 am and 8 pm!
There is no guarantee that you have a test box (called a NID). However, if you do, it would be either on the side of your home or inside (basement, closet, etc) and is usually grey in color. The best way to find it would be to follow your phone wire from the pole and see where it goes.
