No dial tone - directly connected to ONT

Any tricks to skipping the 50 required troubleshooting steps that Verizon makes you do before they will help? No service for weeks, I purchased a new corded phone so I could test directly from the ONT. Dead, no dial tone, nada. But they still want me to run all kinds of stupid tests inside… I’m plugged directly into the ONT people. They are good at reading from scripts but can anyone actually help? Someone have a secrete line to real support?

If you are having an issue with your Verizon service, you can use the Verizon Troubleshooter to fix and report issues with your Verizon Phone, FiOS TV, or Internet Service, as well as to schedule a repair, here is the link:

You can find tools on the Verizon Residential Support page that may help you diagnose your issue:

Done that and spent 40 min on the phone with support having me test inside phones but I’m using a new corded phone directly at the ONT. It’s been rebooted by me and Verizon, it’s not on my side of the line.

You tested all of the phone ports in the ONT? If you plug into the ONT and cannot get dial tone then they need to send a tech out.

Yup, tested both line 1 and line 2 (only have one line but tested both) on a working corded phone directly at the ONT and no dial tone. The thought of spending another hour + having them test my inside lines (again)... I can keep trying until I get someone at Verizon that knows what an ONT is... Just making sure this is a valid test.

Since you've already performed the needed tests, call Verizon at 1-800-VERIZON and enter in your telephone number. When you get to the main menu, hit 0 and then answer the one or two brief questions about what you're calling in for. This should get you to someone who will be able to diagnose the issue. Chances are, if the POTS Light is out on your ONT it's a provisioning issue that can be solved in a few minutes.
