Pwr outage

Recently  we had a pwr outage and I was told that there was a back up service installed in my home to handle emergency calls but that did not work.

If the backup did not work for the telephone service then you are either missing the battery or the battery is dead and needs to be replaced.

If you are in FiOs tel. line, the back up battery will work 8 hours, so may be missing battery,  but if you are in cooper line, you

no need the battery, just used the basic old telephone equitment not cordless phone, it will be working even the PWD OUTAGE. so I suggest you buy the basic tel. set.
