My landline phone has no dial tone and the soonest I can get a repair technician out to the house (according to hte automated repair line) is August 16th, which is more than 2 weeks from today. I had this same problem about two months ago, the technician failed to show up on the appointment day after I had taken off from work, and it ended up taking me three weeks to get my phone working again. The problem was on Verizon's end, not mine. Is there anything Verizon can do to provide better and more relaible customer service?

Your best bet here is to call and speak directly with customer service about the issue.
