I only have one phone jack in the house that works. I have my dsl modem plugged into it. I took a splitter and plugged the dsl modem into one and the regular landline into the other. Whenever I do this, the dsl stops working. I have a filter installed between the spillter and the landline telephone.
Am I doing something wrong? Am I not able to do this?
Thanks!
On some splitters both outputs are duplicates: providing both line 1 and line 2 capability. Some splitters give line 1 on one output and line 2 on the other one. It sounds like you might have the second of those. Try reversing the phone and modem and see what happens. That will tell you if it's the wrong type splitter.
