When you get the Verizon landline telephone service ,get the telephone number, you send the lifeline applaction form to the Verizon Lifeline Dept. , that is very easy, but if you upgrade to TRIPLE PKG, I do not know how to do., I just know lifeline Discount just ONLY ONLY for the TEL. landline only. not internet and TV.
if they try to pressure you into getting FiOS, tell them you'd consider switching to their fiber optic phone service for same price as your POTS line costs....(POTS=plain old telephone service, or copper line phone)...but get it in writing....i'm pretty sure that if the switch from copper is at their insistence, then they must provide you with equivalent service at no extra cost to you....and that they do indeed have fiber optic telephone lines that aren't technically FiOS....of course i don't have any links to sources of this info....i read it quite some time ago and i'm not in the habit of saving links to interesting info....i could "google" it, but why bother....anyway, good luck.....
ooh, i almost forgot....what i read said that they must continue to provide you with equivalent telephone service at no added cost, but it did NOT say that would include DSL high-speed Internet access, so if you use Verizon dsl you may get a price increase there, or they may still try and insist you pay FiOS prices
