How do I disable the voice mail? My answering machine no longer comes on and my father cannot access the voice mail by computer. I much prefer just using my answering machine. They used to both work together but now the voice mail is disabling the answering machine.

I have not seen a way for the user to disable voice mail. But there is a way around it. Go to voice mail settings and set the number of rings to 6. (That's the max.) Then set your answering machine for a lower number. Then the answering machine will always pickup first.
If 6 rings is to low, you will need to contact customer support to disable voice mail.

It can only be disabled with a call to verizon support to set up an 'order". Most just do what walt178 suggests.
Thank you for your help. I did finally figure out that what you suggested would work. Thanks!
