Voice mail stopped working (FiOS) No warning

It stopped taking messages, but didn't give any warning.
Online, I could see that there a lot of old mesages, and deleting them got voice mail working again, but there was no warning given when we checked messages.
Maybe Verizon monitors these forums and will take notice of a problem they need to deal with.
