Voicemail problem

My phone indicates I have voice mail. I do not know how to retrieve it. When I searched this site for help it said voice mail service is not available in Pennsylvania. My husband called the house several times today and was forwarded to the voice mailbox. My account listing shows voicemail as part of the phone package. How do I retrieve messages?

Do you have the studding dial tone when you pick up the phone? If so then you have voicemail.

You will have to contact Verizon to get your access number.
