Why has it taken 16 days (and counting) to get my landline repaired?

Verizon has not restored my phone service for 16 days, up til now.  They have missed 3 "committments" to have my service restored.  Talk about irresponsible corporate ownership, this is the epitome of a billion dollar company not caring one iota about the customer.  I am fed up and if there were another option for me, you would have the boot ASAP.  Nobody seems to care about the situation but me.  HELP!!
