I am receiving non stop calls from this Verizon # {edited for privacy} to my home #,the area code is wv and when you call it back a recorded msg comes on and says "the # you have dialed is not in service" I am also on the "do not call list" a lot of good that does.I hope Verizon looks into this.very scary when your phone rings late at night and a being a older person.again the # is 304-873-4020. And I would appreciate it if you not modify my thread.thank you.
That has all the earmarks of being a "spoofed" number, in other words, possibly a robo caller that has faked their originating phone number.
Welcome to the forums, you're talking to other customers here.
It's terribly easy to spoof CallerID these days. It's incredibly difficult to re-design the phone system to prevent callerID spoofing. Google "callerid spoofing" if you want learn more.
Verizon moderators will edit posts to remove personal information and information that violates the forum's usage rules. These boards can be read by anyone, so it is important that they do that. Having anyone who reads this form know the potentially spoofed callerID of a number reaching you doesn't do you or the real owner of that number any good.
Enjoy.
One of the best ways I've found to stop such calls is Nomorobo. Check it out at the link below. Some calls will still get through because they are legitimate businesses, even if you don't want to hear from them. But for me, the combination of the Do Not Call list and Nomorobo stopped almost all unwelcome calls.
nomorobo won't work for Verizon Wireless because Verizon Wireless won't allow it. Further proof that they are well aware of the number of annoying robo calls.
