This USED to happen only if I was on a call, and someone already on call wating, then when a third call come in, they get a FAX response (rather then a busy signal).
However, over the last several weeks, this has gotten a lot worse.
Here is the sequence:
1) I hear 1 ring, short -- and there is no caller ID display [so this call was redirected before the caller ID was sent]
2) This can repeat one more time
3) usually, on the third call, they get thru. Telling me a FAX sound was all they got before.
NO -- I do NOT have any FAX machines connected, hardware or software.
YES, I checked all of the phones etc, nothing should or could have responded -
lest it be a FAX service.
What can I do????????
What kind of phone line do you have? I.E. FiOS, copper, etc.
Is it possible your line is crossed with another user?
Could you have a busy/no-answer forwarding setup and pointed to a fax server?
Good Luck.
FIOS.
No line sharing ever, so I don't see how that can happen.
Not possible -- and as I noted, this happen sometimes on first ring, when no one is on the line.
If the call again, usually, they get thru OK.
ANy old fashion modems, Security alarms, PC's, etc in your phone line setup? Or it just phones.
At the risk of repeating myself... as indicated above... JUST PHONE.
[I don't want to sound angry, but this is driving me NUTS]
