Any standardr phone will work with voice mail whether its cordless or corded.
When a voice mail is received you will hear a studder dial tone indicating a voice mail. Some phones such as our cordless phone system will blink a light on the handset indicating a voicemail has been received.
If you do not get the studder dial tone be sure it is enabled in the voice mail settings. This can be found under:
http://www.verizon.com/fiosvoice
There is also notifications that can be sent via a text and/or email when a voice message is left. The email feature is nice since you can listen to the message on your email on your PC or smartphone.
Finally if you are new to Fios digital voice and have Fios TV you can also enable Caller ID so when a call is received the Caller ID will be displayed on your TV.
I hope this helps.
