I received a scam call about a free cruise from this number. I want them shut down.
Welcome to the forums. You're talking to other customers here.
There really isn't much Verizon can do about junk callers. The problem is with the design of the phone system, which dates back to a time when all equipment connected to the system could be trusted. Not such much, anymore.
One of the best ways to reduce nuisance calls is the free service nomorobo.com. If you have FiOS Digital Voice, you can use it. It does not work with traditional phone service.
Good luck.

Nomorobo now supports Verizon traditional landline.
Excellent idea! I just added my Verizon phone number to nomorobo.com. I never knew about this but the instructions were pretty easy. Thank you! I get tired of having to answer some of these nuisance calls or to call the phone number back to get on their "do not call list", even though I'm on the National Do Not Call List. Not that long ago, I was getting this call from a private blocked number from someone claiming to be from Windows to alert me of kind of a virus or much needed upgrade. lol

Really? Nomorobo depends on the "simultaneous ring" feature being available on the phone line. Unless Verizon has added this feature to traditional phone lines, nomorobo can't be used with them.
FiOS Digital Voice does have simultaneous ring, so it can work with nomorobo.
If you aware of some recent change to Verizon landlines, please share.
Enjoy,

It seems you are correct.
I know assumptions can be dangerous. Nevertheless, I assumed that all carriers in the list on Nomorobo's site were supported.
Got calls from unnow phone number before, too. Caller claimed I got picked in a drawing and won cash and free Carribean cruise. It would have been if only it was true. But I knew better, I hung up.
When I looked up the phone number at Callercenter, I pulled up a thread of complaints associating the phone number to phony calls. Terrible scammer!
Robocallers like that are breaking the law. I used to constantly get calls from this phone number in Washington State that was being run by people who only speak Spanish. It's all a scam and it's crazy. There has also been a charity organization that I believe would stop at nothing to continue calling me and ignores my requests to be put on their "do not call" list. It's harrassment. they don't care, and they get away with it.
Seriously, try nomorobo.com. It's not failproof but ever since I added it to my phone service, it has made a huge difference and things have calmed down a lot. Even if some phone numbers from these scammers fall through the cracks, it's very easy to report them to nomorobo and I have found that I will stop receiving calls like that quickly. I even reported this caller from a blocked private line and that stopped as well. We all deserve peace of mind.
