suggestions for bill reduction with triple freedom package and phone service

Hi all, we rarely use our house phone in general yet want the house service-we are being charged 29.01 that includes a 7.97 long distance which we do not need or use. Simple call waiting and caller id to be kept.   Any thoughts to reduce the bill. if we went outside verizon for  house phone service? for our package we are just under $200 when no special packages discounts available or ending.
