will there be an update that will allow me to save pics, videos and apps to my sdcard. when I take a pic it only saves to tablet not sdcard and Verizon said I had to transfer it from tablet to computer then to sdcard which in my opion is dumb I should be able to do it instantly. Also why is the app space so low I downloaded 20 apps and its almost full that less than a gig is too low since my phone is higher than this tablet

An update is coming shortly this month, that will make changes to SD card making it accessible to load information to the SD card.

An update is needed and I also am having a problem with apps and would like sd card access. The sd card is useless right now in the device. Plus only 1gb of the 8gb space is allocated for apps. They need to take the allocation away and make it the full 8gb for everything inside the tablet with the ability to move or save items to the sd card. I have a 32gb sd card in mine which is useless at the moment without access to allow me to move anything or save to it.

I received my ellipsis in mail today, and have run out of space for apps.  So, I agree with these writers.  What a dumb device.  Nowhere is a memory card identified as an option, or included as a sweetener.  If I don't receive news of improvement, back it goes.

Hi DoctorWhom,

We always want you to have the best options with your exciting new device. Have you considered transfering items off the computer onto an applicable SD Card? Also, a majority of applications require direct download to the devices internal storage. My apologies that this options would not be eligible for override at this time. Please keep us posted if we can provide any assistance in the future, thanks!

What a ridiculous suggestion to transfer data to the SD card using a computer! Why should I EVER need to link my tablet to a computer? RIDICULOUS!

Putting the SD card in an adaptor & inserting into a pc to transfer data onto it? Welcome back to 1995. That's just not how tablets are used.

But you, Verizon, have a LOT bigger problem. The internal storage on this tablet is pathetically low. What most people have not figured out yet, but will, is this: The bloatware apps from Vz like Vz Messaging, iHeart Radio, RedBox Instant etc. are BUILT-IN apps - they cannot be removed. The core Google apps like Chrome, Google+, Playstore etc. are also built -in apps as shipped w/the tablet, but that's ok because people actually use these/depend on them.

What is happening now is that Google Chrome, Google+ CANNOT UPDATE because there's not enough space. That's after stripping just about anything possible that's not built-in. My ellipsis cannot update these key products.

Verizon, what is the answer to this??

And BTW I also did the Android SDK, USB debug w/ adb pm commands etc., & it does help some. Still cannot install updates to Chrome & Google+. Big Problem, VZW.

The end of December has come and gone, and users of the Ellipsis 7 still cannot update system apps on their device because of the 1 GB limit on app space on the device.

Matthew, is there any update from Verizon customer service on the promised update?

Thanks.

Hi gpan099,

We know how important it is to have the most up to date software on your device. At this time there is no word on when the newest update will be available for the Ellipsis . You can however stay up to date with any news on updates and devices by going to: http://bit.ly/n5snpq

Thanks Karen for your reply, but I wasn't talking about "the latest software version," I was talking about a fix to the 1GB limit placed on app space that is preventing users of this tablet from updating basic apps that came with the tablet. It has nothing to do with the latest version of Android, it is the way the tablet software was set up by Verizon. Customer Service told multiple customers including myself that the issue would be addressed in late December, and that window has come and gone. Surely someone at Verizon knows the status of this issue, other than "we don't know when'" and and a link to another marketing site with no information. Someone should  step up and provide an update to the timeline, if not the actual fix.

We fully understand your position gpan099! Unfortunately we would be unable to advise of exact update release timeframes. However, we fo recommend monitoring http://bit.ly/n5snpq for any applicable updates, thanks!

Do you know when there will be an update released to fix the storage problem? I like the tablet and it is snappy and useful but this storage limitation is a big problem.

Maybe I'm just technologically challenged... but I've tried more than  once to copy apps over to my SD card via my PC and I must not be doing  it right. I have managed to free up ABSOLUTELY NO space. Maybe somebody  can tell me what I'm doing wrong? OR maybe Verizon can just fix the  problem....

The OS version on the Ellipsis tablet isn't designed to allow applications to be installed on the SD card. You basically purchased a very poorly designed piece of technology.

We bought two of them. I guess we will be returning both while we still can. I was really liking it until the memory issue reared it's head and I discovered there wasn't any point in the 32 gig cards I installed in them. Bad design unless fixed. We'll return them while we can. I don't want to take the chance that they don't provide a fix. Don't buy these!

I can't say it any better than SFLgal.

This is exactly what we did. I am so disappointed and upset.

If it's free it to good to be true.

Thank you Verizon for the misleading sale.

Where can I confirm this information. I called tech support and they knew nothing. They didn't even appear familiar with the issue. Sad! They suggested that I was using the unit for more than what it was intended and should return it.

Tech support will never acknowledge that an system update is coming until it is actually released. It is unlikely that every tech support person will know every single issue with every single device that works on the Verizon Wireless network.

I'd have to say, I've called on three separate issues for my tablet, one in which I had to return the device for a new one (gps issues...funny thing was, the person in the store tried to troubleshoot and said, oh you are picking up a signal -- I don't think he was as familiar with android as he should have been).

However, on all 3 of the occasions, Tech support did say that an update was coming, they did not know the timeframe, but kept saying, end of december.

I took the liberty of doing something about it, and following the steps outlined above. (android SDK, enabling adb via the debug menu, using the pm command to set the install directory).  Works very well and actually free's up space in the app space of my device.

The MOST HORRIBLE thing that was done was preinstalled software from google play --- in the system directory...just NOT a good idea....I hope that's fixed in this update or people will take things more in their own hands...
