Verizon Mifi T1114 4g lte suspended (no longer supported?) Website says it will be, very confused

We have been Verizon customers for around 20 years, we have 5 lines.  Just a couple days ago one of our lines was suspended, without warning, because the equipment will no longer be supported after 2022. It is a Verizon MiFi, Novatel T1114 4G-LTE.  Why won't this router be supported if it is 4G-LTE?  Secondly, we have used this router since verizon cam out with it and use it for our business, so we can plug a landline into it and have internet. Now all of the sudden we have to figure something out overnight without knowing what the alternative options in equipment will be. How do we find another similar router with the same abilities, to replace them with? The landline ports are important!  Also, we have had the same grandfather plan the whole time we have been customers and Verizon has always tried to get us to change plans to a more expensive plan or less unlimited plan.  We have gotten no extra perks because we won't give up our plan and when talking to associates and they realize what plan we have, they always say, oh yeah don't give up that plan the newer plans would be worse than what you have now in cost. It feels like a tug o' war game.  The reason I mention this is, we are always afraid to speak with Verizon, because we just leave more confused. Well, we have no choice now.  What are we supposed to do, how do we know what equipment to get to replace the T1114? I find lots of "so called" compatible routers online, but are they really?  On Verizon's website it says our T1114 will not be supported and when you click find another compatible product, it shows the exact same router on the next page of listed compatible products, so which is it?  So so confused at this point, looking for solid answers.  Thanks you

@apocalypsecreek ,

Thank you for so many details. I'm sorry that you feel so afraid to talk to us about anything, but why is that exactly? As for your jetpack, we have been in the process for the last several years to retire our CDMA network, which your jetpack uses. We have also been sending out reminders for the last few years about this happening, and even sent notifications on the bill and to the account to let you know that if you are still using a CDMA device that it will be disabled as it will no longer work with our network: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-218813/ . You would need to upgrade the line to a jetpack that is compatible with our network, as all devices sold for the last several years have been. Does that help make sense?

@vzw So are there newer T1114's that ARE compatible going forward, and older T1114's that are not?  Or are all T1114's no longer supported?  If they aren't, what are some replacements?

@apocalypsecreek Thank you so much for asking this question!  I thought I was going crazy because I asked Verizon Support one the phone specifically if this model was being dropped from support and they said no!

All of the T1114 Mifi will still work. They are lying to us. They use VOLTE on 4g LTE. they completely removed mine from my account that was working fine today. This is something they have been trying to get rid of for a long time and are just using the 3g CDMA as an excuse. So sick of Verizon!! have been with them for 20 years and this is how they treat me.

All of the T1114's will still work with updated firmware. They are just lying to us. They use VOLTE for voice. I have had one for many years and they shut it down today and completely removed it and my personal phone number from my account.  Up until then it had been working perfectly both voice and data even though they shutdown the 3g in Jan. They have been trying to get rid of these for years and are just using the 3g CDMA shutdown as an excuse. They do not have anything that will replace it  that does both voice and data. I have been with verizon for 20 years and this is how they treat me. They give the farm away to those  willing to switch to them but they have never given me anything and today they took the only reason for me to stay with them. I guess I had it coming right.

If you have a 4g  LTE Verizon tablet with a working removable data only micro sim card, a micro to mini sim card adapter (like the one in the $1.00 Tracphone sim kit), and a T-6 torx bit screwdriver bit... But say good bye to any old grandfather Unlimited plan designed for this device  you had in 2022. The T-1114 might work under the same data plan borrowed from the tablet. But I'm not suggesting anyone try this.

Thanks for the customer focused support, Verizon.

Happy New Year!

Data Only Sim card means no voice or phone functionality, btw.

I have been working with local Verizon stores, Verizon customer service, Verizon techs, and a lovely Verizon manager.  None have been able to resolve the problem. (Roxbury NY)

my novatel 4g lte router only  had a security camera attached.  I have no security camera since they suspended the line.  Verizon can’t assign a new 5g router, or a mifi device or any other devices they have because it won’t recognize my address as serviceable. A tech was supposed to be dispatched to ping the tower a month ago without any response from Verizon

I think I have exhausted my time and Verizon’s ability to correct the issue so will be asking the Public Service Commission to assist through senior management to address the suspension of my security camera with no alternative solution

will follow up with this link

I also answered each email Verizon sent telling me to upgrade.  Each time the representative I spoke to said not to worry the 4g lte device would not be removed.
well I know this to not be true

Called the PSC this morning but they do not take wireless complaints.   They sent me to the FCCthis Morning where I filed a complaint.  Will continue to update if the find a solution

I would also very much appreciate support on this topic.  I have been unable to find a support rep that knows what device can replace this router to act as a One Talk fax line.  Thank you for any assistance!

I share your frustration. I have two of the Verizon T1114 devices which I use for internet only.
The internet is on their LTE 4G, the voice (phone) on 3G. At first I was told by a customer rep that
the 4G would continue to work. In November they were suspended. Then after being sent to their
technical support rep I was told I had to change plans and add these as Essential 4G devices which I did.
They were suspended again in December. This time they reconnected them saying that should not have happened.
They also said one T1114V's actually had been upgraded to the 4G voice (phone) and that definitely should
not have been suspended. They were going to look into it and call back, they never did. Again they both
have been suspended, after talking to several reps both customer and technical service they tell me they
will be disconnected.

I also use these for security as well as thermostat control in two locations. These are routers that have
ethernet ports which my security system requires. They only offer a router for the 5G which is not available
at either rural address. These work very well on the 4G network and they are "very sorry" to shut them off.
I should add I put a post on this forum in November and a Verizon Customer Rep replied not to worry the 4G
function would continue to work on these devices, that post is now gone.

A while ago I did some research on these devices.
The only difference between the T1114 and the T1114V is the firmware. The former shipped with version 3.0 and the latter with version 5.0 which enabled VoLTE service. The T1114 used 3G CDMA service for voice unless it was upgraded to 5.0 firmware. The auto upgrade feature never worked very well and Verizon stopped supporting it some time ago so most T1114s still have version 3.0. Customer support could not push an upgrade to the devices so those devices will never have VoLTE. Consequently Verizon classifies all of these units as obsolete CDMA 3G voice devices.
Since the devices with version 5.0 firmware actually operate on LTE for both data and voice I believe they meet current network requirements. With the right code Verizon could identify and activate only the VoLTE enabled units or they could provision the lines for data only service but they won't. From a business management perspective the simple solution is to ban them all and that is apparently what they have done.
I wish Verizon had opted for a technical solution that would have kept these units connected. In my area the Verizon signal is very weak and Verizon has nothing that works as well as a T1114 with a high gain external antenna. The LTE and 5G Home Internet boxes lack external antenna ports and the mobile hotspot devices are not really comparable to the fixed service routers.

All manufacturers have a timeframe for the devices to be current, unfortunately we can't keep giving support to obsolete devices. There might be some updates depending on the manufacturer, but we can't guarantee to have a solution for these..  >Alicia

Yes, but if they are still working on VOLTE why are they being forcefully removed from accounts.

If shutting down the CDMA would have made them stop working then I could understand it. Mine was still working on VOLTE and they removed it and my phone number from my account with no warning. If it no longer works and I keep paying that on me isn't it? Verizon is trying very hard to chase away existing customers to make room for the ones they are giving them everything to move.

Both of mine are T1114 's and the current firmware version 7. So they have updated beyond 5.

You are right they have nothing that works as well as they do, but I think they know that.
