Why can't I watch games on the NHL app?

When I try to watch a game I get a black screen and a circle that keeps rotating but no game.  Not sure if this is due to a Verizon tablet update or an app update to the NHL app.  I can still watch the games on my Verizon Samsung phone so I'm leaning towards an issue with recent Verizon updates to the tablet.

I've already tried;

  clearing app cache

  uninstall reinstall NHL app

  power cycle the tablet

Update to Android 5.0.1 resoled this issue.
