I've been trying to update my tablet. But all it does is show that its downloading in the status bar and it says "downloading update package". But it won't move past 0%. I have sw number MV7B_31D41_422K. Anyone know how to fix this? Ive been trying to update for 3 days.

Try resetting the device and trying the update again. Usually you can press and hold the power button and select Power Off, then wait about 30 seconds and power back on.

I am having the exact same issue as the original poster. Re-booting does nothing, and the stalled update process returns with the same results. I believe it is due to the fact that apparently this particular update must be downloaded by way of an OTA cellular connection. The download only appears to be stalling with the wifi connection, which is a good thing at this point-- as it's kept me from downloading this apparently non-functioning, tablet-crashing excuse for an update package.
However, considering the other recent topics in the forum, it looks like this Kitkat update is a load of crap. Several people reporting that they can't even get past the power-on splash screen after updating, which makes the tablet about as useful as a poor doorstop. Due to all the complaints I have seen here, I've held off on connecting vial cell to download it until Verizon decides that fixing the update bugs is worth their precious time-- I'm not holding my breath with this one.

Let's get that update moving, crazykids11. If the update is unable to complete, a hard reset would be the next step to push the update. A hard reset will erase the content of the tablet, so it is recommended a backup is performed before moving forward. To complete the hard reset, you can click here: http://vz.to/1rvHW0g

I also have two ellipsis 7 tablets. ..one was able to download the update and the other is still stuck at 0% after the hard reboot. Since it keeps trying to download, the battery keeps running down...

We want you enjoying the same update as your mom's tablet, crazykids11. Thanks for trying the reset! Is your tablet connected to LTE or WiFi when you're trying to complete the download? Are you able to access other data services from your tablet, like the Play Store and browser?

Is there anyway to stop the tablet from continued attempts to download this update? I do NOT want to update and I also do not want the package to continue to try and update and drain my battery. How can I turn this off.

Wi-Fi needs to be turned off and a 4G connection is required for this update:
1) Please turn off Wi-Fi and ensure that you have an active SIM card in the device.
2) After Wi-Fi is disabled, please restart your Ellipsis 7.
3) Once the device restarts and connects to 4G, the software update will begin downloading.
The device requires a data connection to complete the update, but billable data will not be used during the update.

Yes Wi-Fi is off. OTA updates usually need Wi-Fi OFF to update

Hi jkcm725
Thank you for your report. We should have picked this up sooner, but because your device has not yet been updated your update process will be a little different and will first involve using the Help app. I am working to obtain specific instructions and will post them here and in the featured content area of this forum so they can be used by other customers. Thanks again.

Hi jkcm725
Following are instructions to update your tablet from MV7B_31D41_422.
1. You can turn on Wi-Fi for this: Please go to the Play Store and search for the app "Help - Verizon Ellipsis 7."
2. Once installed you will want to turn Wi-Fi off again. The Help app will update your device to MV7B_31D41_422X or MV7B_31D41_422Y. Once you are on this software you will be able to pull the current software by checking for a software update under Settings (Wi-Fi will need to be turned off to pull the update, but you will not incur data charges for the update).
Please report back. Also, would you kindly let us know if you normally have your Play Store settings set to "Do not auto-update apps"

Where exactly does one find 'help - verizon ellipsis 7 update' application? It certainly isn't on Google play store. Your paying customers need to be able to use their tablets without this much hassle, so get on it and make them right... Hurry up...chop chop..

Carol is CORRECT. Stupid thing from Verizon, but that's how it has to be done. Mine was stuck the same way, numerous reboots, starting in safe mode didn't fix it.. stuck at 1%.
In another thread I saw the answer:
1. Go to settings.
2. Turn WIFI off
3. Restart/reboot the Elliipisis
4. Wait for it to establish a data connection via the cellular signal
Then check - the download should be proceeding. Supposedly the download data use doesn't count against your monthly pittance allotment.

Carol - this isn't working. Wifi is off, Cellular is on. I already have the Help app - what exactly is that supposed to do? There isn't anything in the help app to update the software, not sure I understand what needs to be done. Phone has been rebooted multiple times, even started in safe mode. Nothing is working.

Mine has been trying to update for a couple of weeks. It won't move from zero percent and I can't get it to stop. It just drains my battery.
