Okay so I am upgrading my iphone 4 to a galaxy nexus I bought on ebay. Switching over to the gnex seems simple enough but I am worried about the 4g. Do I need a new plan to get 4G service? What do I do to receive/activate a 4G sim? What kind of fees can I expect? I can't seem to find any consistent info online.
Thanks in advance

There is no special plan to get 4G. If you need a new SIM you can get one at your local Verizon store. They could also activate your phone for you. You might not need a new SIM card. The website should tell you the activation procedure when you log into your account and click ACTIVATE OR SWITCH DEVICE. Since you're not taking a subsidized upgrade you wouldn't be subject to any upgrade fee. Your data pricing would remain the same.
