Alias on prepay?

My friend is wanting to sell her old Alias to me. I don't want to put it on a contract, hence why I want to prepay. Can I put the 20$ unlimited text bundle on it? I'm wondering because I heard I'd have to pay extra for a data plan, but it isn't a smart phone. It would be great if someone has the answer I'm looking for.

Call customer service at 1-888-294-6804 to have the cell changed from a contract phone to a prepaid cell. You will not need a Data Plan with the Alias.

Well, I currently do not have a phone at all. Before my mom cancelled my service with Verizon I was on contract. So can I still call them and have just the messaging bundle?

I'm not sure on that but it seems like you should be able to. Call customer service they would be able to tell you for sure.
