I have a kid who will be studying abroad for 4 months in Australia. He will use on-campus wifi for data, only needs talk and text. The Verizon guy in my local Best Buy said there was a talk/text plan for $20/month, but I couldn't find it anywhere online.
For four months, it might be less expensive to buy prepaid SIM card from a local Australian cellular carrier.
