Droid Razr M not showing messages

My Droid Razr M is over a year old and has been starting to act up. The battery life plummeted, I could get a full day and a half out of it, now I'm lucky if I get 5 hours. The built in Message app (not Hangouts) has a notification but shows no new message. I was texting someone and they answered but the app will not show the message, nor will Hangouts. I tried to force update (hold down lock and up volume for thirty seconds) but it wouldn't reboot. I shut it off and turned it back on, nothing has worked.

That is definitely odd, arlyssacook. Let's see what we can do to get your phone working normally. Have you tried wiping the cache partition? This is done from the same screen where you do the alternate factory reset. http://vz.to/1tY5D3f Once the Wipe cache partition is done, choose reboot system now.
