Droid Turbo 2 doesn't ring when locked with Power button

I selected the Option to Lock my Droid Turbo 2 when Power button is pressed (Security---Settings) and my phone stopped ringing. I deselected that option and phone ALWAYS rings now ....locked or unlocked phone rings...... I like using that option on other devices I own ( itouch, ipad ).......anyone know how to fix this ? Am I not understanding something ?
