Rascalt,
Oh no! That is never any fun, I am so sorry to hear that your screen cracked. Did you happen to add insurance on to your line when you purchased it? If yes, you can file an insurance claim at http://bit.ly/11fVKkW.

I can't quite see having to pay $100 deductible for a refurbished phone after having had mine less than one month! which is what I was told when I checked into it. What good is the insurance?

Without insurance you definitely are SOL. You don't expect Verizon to indemnify you for your own carelessness now, do you?

Having insurance would save you $500-$700 dollars. Just like car and health insurance, you might not use it everyday, but it's good to have when you need it. But, insurance won't cover pre-existing damage.

Does the phone still work? A cracked screen is not pretty, but if the phone is still functional.... I've used a phone with a cracked screen for months (dropped it after having it for ONE WEEK!) with no issues. My daughter's iPhone screen looks like a spiderweb, but she keeps on using it.
And as others have stated, that's what the insurance and deductible covers, whether the damage occurs a month or a year into your ownership, you pay the deductible and get a replacement/repair. Or live with the crack in the screen.

obviously you didn't read my post..I DO have insurance! There is no way the screen should have cracked when it was inside my purse! Read upon the other comments on the Ddroid Maxx on here... I did, and now am kicking myself for not checking it out on here sooner!
