New Droid Turbo 2

My Turbo 2 is only notifying me of text every so often and sometimes instead of the notification sound I chose it gives me this sick sounding beep.  Also, i can't find a setting that will gives me a notification light. Is there no such thing on this phone?

The Active Display is the notification "light".

The text message sound is set in the notification sound area.  I am using Verizon messenger instead of the default.  The sound I set is the one that always plays.   I am new to the phone still so still picking more on it
