Phone is not registering that it is charging or dying

A few days ago my phone was working just fine, charging as it should, showing me the exact percentage of the battery life (I have the battery solo app that tells me). The other day when my phone died while i was at friends house, i didn't really care, i would charge it on the way home. Well at first when I plugged it in it wouldn't do anything. So i waited until I got home to get it on to my wall charger. I managed to turn it on with 5% on it. When I plugged it in and let it sit for an hour it was still at 5% and was still charging. I went to work, came home and it was at 100%. Problem solved.. later on.. problem not solved.

My phone will not register that it is charging until it is at 100% percent, so when I want a quick charge to 50% or whatever, I can't, the phone will stay at 5% until the battery is completely charged. Another thing.. it won't register that it is discharging either until it is at 5%

I have done countless number of battery resets, AND 2 factory resets, none of which seem to work.

My update isn't for another year, I'm not sure what to do anymore.. other than throw the thing at the wall.

Please help!

Another note: On that same day, my speaker decided to make everyone sound like a robot. so that is also not working correctly.

Clear cache and try another charger first.  Could be your "battery solo app" that is causing problems.  I'd remove it, reboot, and try without the app and see what happens.  If that isn't the problem run in Safe Mode for a day or so and see if the problem disappears.  If everything works as it should in Safe Mode then another app is causing problems.  Remove all aps and add them back one at a time and test.  If all else fails then try a Factory Reset.  And finally if nothing you tried fixed the problem and your phone is still under warranty, get it replaced.

Like Superman, here I am to save the day! Let's get your phone working as it should be Shannon596. May I ask have you tried the steps that breezex gave? Removing the app and using the device in its native state is a great troubleshooting step. If that doesn't work then please share the software and Android version that you have installed on the device. I want to check to see if the most up to dat software is installed. I'm looking forward to your reply.

Thank you...

Actually, the quote is "Here I come to save the day" ... and it was by Mighty Mouse, not Superman.

I have uninstalled the app and rebooted, several times. I have also factory reset twice and put it in safe mode for a few days. Not MUCH luck, but it is telling me now that the battery life is at 50% and 20% when the battery is dying. Although when charging it stays at 5% until it's charged.

The android version is 4.1.2 which i believe is the most up-to-date software that is out.

With all of those things tried and no success, I'd say it is a hardware issue; either battery or charging circuit.  As I said before, if still under warranty get a replacement.  If not then Motorola will replace the battery for about $60 (check Motorola's site for exact price), but you will be without your phone for a week or two.  Note: If you have water damage, then just replacing the battery may not be a longterm solution.

The issue is still there B33. My dad says it's probably a hardware issue, like Breezex said.

The phone--i believe-- isn't under warranty anymore... i got it over a year ago.

Well Shannon with the issue that still remains )  And the Time that is remaining on your contract I would go after it with all Guns! Shoot at all Options See if the Warranty still Exist if it does Try to get it Replaced)  If you cannot get it Replaced then Send the Unit to Motorola and have them Replace the Battery See if that Works.. Hopefully it will take care of the Issue Good Luck..  Smiley Happy  b33
