I was recently at 1 Bay Street in Staten Island, NY 10301 and experienced problems with data. I most often had a weak 4G signal or a strong 3G signal while in this area. While getting to this area, there was no problem with data services. As soon as I arrived at this place and went outside, ALL data services stopped working. I couldn't get Facebook to update the news feed or get it to show a list of places nearby. I couldn't get Twitter to load new tweets, and I couldn't get Chrome to display any webpages.
To resolve this problem, I decided it was necessary to turn off the phone. On that note, why is there no restart option? The phone can only be turned on or turned off. After restarting the phone, data services worked for about five minutes before reverting back to the issues I previously mentioned. After sometime at this location, data finally started working again but only at a strong 3G.
What is disappointing about this is that this is one of the reasons why I switched to Verizon from Sprint, despite losing unlimited data. I expected to get better and more reliable service. Instead, I am finding that I am encountering the same problems I had with Sprint at this location. I have also relayed these concerns to @VZWSupport on Twitter, and am waiting for a reply. Hopefully my tweet doesn't get lost or overlooked given that I sent it on a holiday.
How is service outside at the same address?
That's where the problem was - outside at this address.
