About 2 weeks ago I installed an update only b/c it had been asking me for weeks to do it. Then my phone widget was unusable so I had to delete it and was unable to find original so had to download a new dialer, which btw said it was free but only for 7 days. About 3 days ago it started telling me the free trial was over and did I want to purchase - options were buy now and not now. I kept choosing not now cause don't have time to go search store for new one. Now today my phone rings or I get texts and only the number comes up with no name. I have shortcuts to people on my screen and when I tap them it says the contact doesn't exist. I went to vzw and checked my backup asst and NO CONTACTS IN THERE and NO CONTACTS in the Cloud??? Any one know why?

I assume the update you installed was a system OS upgrade. Many times user apps will not work on the update and should be downloaded again from the Play Store to work properly. Where do you store your contacts? If you sync them with Google, then they are always available on any device. Sounds like your contacts are only on your device. A system update is like a factory reset in that it usually wipes everything in your system partition. Sounds like you need to sync your contacts in the cloud for the future. Sorry.
