looking for help: my applications will no longer open (8/31/14)

As of yesterday my applications will not open beyond the home screen.  I consistently get the error message: Unfortunately, "APPLICATION" has stopped.  During that time I have not installed any new apps or upgraded any existing applications.  Cycling through power off and power on does not help.  Can you help?  I am hoping it doesn't come down to the last option of a hard/factory reset.

D@V lets get you back in action! Are you experiencing this issue with all your apps, including pre-installed apps? Has there been any physical/water damage?

Same problem with my husband's Droid Razr.  Keep getting the "unfortunately _____ has stopped working"  Won't let us log into google, which makes the smartphone now nothing but a phone.  Tried factory reboot, and it won't wipe the phone.

That's actually really odd, MrsSandie!

What happens when you try a Factory Reset? Do you get an error message? Have you rooted or altered the software on the device in any way?
