I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

I agree with everyone else! This is stupid!! I called Verizon and the guy read me some stupid canned reply about most people getting their weather info from their moble device.... total b/s I said - maybe people my kids age, but people my age depend on trustworthy, informative and interesting - Weather Channel!!! Guess I'll be going back to Time Warner when my contract expires!.......he just said sorry!!

I have been a fan of the weather channel for many years. Every 8 minutes I get an update on my local weather. The Accu Weather offering is horrible at best. I agree it looks like a high school production. No information about local weather unless you wait a long time until they come to the Phila forecast...
For waht we pay, we deserve the quality of information the Weather Channel provides... Get this corrected ...!!!

You can cancel now under grounds of Breach of Contract.

No breah of contract.
They clearly state that can add and remove channels as business dictates.
And all of those who keep saying we need TWC in the event of severe weather:
We haven't seen Accuweather performance during a severe weather event.
They may have just what we need.
Not to mention their commitment to improve and be what most people are saying they want:
A channel that has weather - not all of the extra shows.
Read here to see what they intend to do:
http://getaccuweather.tv/accuweather-advantage
Keep in mind that TWC didn't start where they are today.

One thing Verizon is not understanding is that once we have switched to a new carrier and learn all their channel numbers, menu schemes, etc. there will be no incentive to return unless the new carrier does something as egregious as removing The Weather Channel. I am allowing Verizon 1 month to correct this situation. To date I am not pleased at their attitude toward their 'Valued Customers'. I am in the middle of my contract but will gladly terminate it for Comcast because they provide the services I require which includes The Weather Channel. I have been with Verizon since they provided their services in my area over 10 years ago. I was instrumental in getting others to switch to Verizon. I will be instrumental in getting them to leave as well as all of them are not happy about this situation involving The Weather Channel. I am stunned that they are so out of touch with their customer base, but worse than that, they do not care what their customer base has to say. Verizon, once we have switched carriers, it will be too late for you. Please revisit your decision.

Why does someone need to know the channel numbers of the stations? I have no idea what most of the channel numbers are for the channels I watch. There is no need to know them since I have no desire to watch live TV. I started time shifting my Tv watching in 1984. And The Weather channel was no exception. When I watched it, then it was time shifted. And I would prefer for FiOS to bring it back. Since Accuweather is a PoC.

@jonesmagicfan wrote:Many of us are obviously happy with TWC. I see VERY few on this board saying otherwise.
That's the nature of boards like this. Satisfied people don't come to forums like this to say how great everything is. People with problems and complaints are the ones who post. Clearly, TWC is important to some people, and some of those people have made their displeasure over FiOS dropping TWC known here.
We well never see any significant posts from people who just don't care about TWC going away. Because, they JUST DON"T CARE and probably didn't even notice the change.
I'll say this again; posting here about TWC won't change Verizon's mind. This forum is setup for customer to customer communication. The moderators are moving all TWC related posts onto this thread to try and keep the board useful for other topics. Verizon is keenly aware that some customers are quite upset over TWCs removal; they don't need stats from this forum to tell them that.
Verizon knows how many people watched TWC. Either from Nielsen ratings or actual data from their network, you can rest assured that they didn't make this move without a good idea of how many people watch TWC and what the likely fallout would be.
If you want to send Verizon a message, cancel your service. That is the only thing they will pay attention to.
Good Luck.

After surviving a winter in Boston, I probably watched the weather channel as much/more than any other station the past few months. Accuweather is not a substitute. It barely gives any information. We pay a fortune. The weather channel should be part of the basic package. I want it back. I wonder if comcast or rcn carry the weather channel.

Here's my problem with Accuweather. It's a Philly based operation that focuses on weather in the Northeast. They pay token attention to weather elsewhere. The only local, 10 day forecast I can access on the "weather bug" is for Carrollton - not even in the county I live in. When tornado season arrives do you think we're going to get the kind of in-depth warnings, alerts, and reporting that The Weather Channel routinely offers? Of course we won't. I'm very upset Verizon couldn't figure out how to retain TWC and instead offers up this laughable replacement.

I agree. Where can we officially complain? While I have not enjoyed weather channel beating the drum on climate change I have found the secondary channel that is focused on my local area to be much more informative than the crappy phone apps, of which Accuweather.com and Weatherbug are among the WORST.

No surprise, but Verizon is not allowing me to give kudos to those who have complained about dropping TWC from its lineup. Maybe is is time to switch to another service. Clearly Verizon isn't interested in customer opinions.

Verzion bring back the local weather channel and TWC. Have some respect for your loyal customers!! In this day and age where our weather is changing from the norm at a rapid pace it is vital for us to be well informed by TWC and have the ability to see the local weather with radar features in what is approaching us! Accuweather is a joke!
You have a lot of unhappy customers nationwide who are angry enough to switch their services!

Well Hurricane season is upon us and the AW channel is an utter joke.
I have family in TX that was hit recently by a F1 tornado and I had no clue until I received a text that said "We're fine, don't worry & I'll call you later" My defining moment and Breaking Straw!
During Hurricanes and Blizzards we have TWC on constantly, or at least we did.
So, a big kudos for taking away our access to watch TWC on TV.
A channel that provides the best weather coverage. IMHO
Live and continually updated during disasters and storms.
I relied on TWC for local and distant weather forecasts.
Yes I can pull it up on my smart phone or PC, but I want to watch it when I'm cooking/eating in the kitchen, or relaxing in the Living room or bedroom. I don't want to watch it on a small screen, or laptop....get real.
My contract is up in September and with no TWC in sight of returning, neither will I.
This combined with channels being dropped and new fees being added as a way to circumvent bundled pricing is unacceptable. And again this is my opinion and conspiracy theory.
So, just how many other customers are jumping ship, IDK but I have talked with other friends/family that are also fed up & leaving when their contract ends.
End of story, I need, expect and want a weather channel that can and will provide me and my family with current accurate up to date weather nation/world wide.
We want to know when that change is happening, and if it impacts our friends/family spread across the US and abroad.
It would just be nice to know that we could flick on the tube and see what's happening at home and abroad.
NE weather changes....well like the old saying....if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes it will change.
I have already started to receive VZ retention offers, but unless TWC is back, that's nothing more then mute.
I loved my FIOS, but my family and I need the weather to be accurate, and we believe that TWC is the only option.
I really wish they would listen to their subscribers, but I believe the bottom line is "as mentioned various times earlier in this extremly long message thread" money money money.

No logic with the weather channel other than some fat cats getting bigger bonuses.
