I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

For the amount we pay Verizon every month, to lose such a central channel (especially with no notice) is an insult.  Sure, people get weather info from other sources, but not exclusively.  And The Weather Channel is excellent.  BRING IT BACK.  Or start lowering prices -- like letting customers hand-pick what channels we would like to include.  We deserve more choice for the exorbitant prices we pay.

The Weather Channel brings the most comprehensive weather information to viewers and has done an unparalleled job of it for the last several decades. It is incomprehensible that Verizon would remove it without giving the public any chance for input. As another poster stated about its replacement - "Accu Weather is like a cheap cable access channel." After using the preinstalled the Accu Weather app on my Android phone I can attest that the term when applied to their weather predictions is an oxymoron. Please return the Weather Channel to Verizon's channel lineup and remove this "not ready for prime time or any time" weather station.

Dear Verizon,

Dropping The Weather Channel??? That's way too bad. Boo...I do not applaud this decision you have made at all. The Weather Channel is one of the few channels I watch and it will be sorely missed. You missed the mark here and from what I've seen so far, your pallid replacement is very disappointing and leaves ALOT to be desired. This is an epic FAIL on your part.

Boo's and more boo's to you,
Your VALUED verizon customer

I thought Comcast was bad. Verizon has proven to be even worse! I cannot believe they chose to remove the weather channel! I watch it first thing in the morning every single day and love this channel not only for the weather but videos, news, weather science info and the entertaining personalities. Verizon service been atrocious and now with what I am paying this is the last straw and a disgrace to remove a channel that is so popular and part of the daily routine of many viewers because they need to save money. What a joke! Of course their main goal and interest is money it is obvious that customer service is at the bottom of the barrel. Looks like it's time to find another provider, maybe a la carte. Cable companies continue to screw their customers! And that's the only thing they do well.

Please bring back the Weather Scan.  I use that every day and evening for various events that I am in charge of.  It was the most comprehensive weather information on my tv for my area.  Why was it taken off?  Even if I have to pay extra for it I want it back.

Couldn't agree more...I continually turn to the weather channel for weather related news and programming. If it does not come back I will be looking for other providers an end my contract early..

Hopefully verizon reads all these complaints about the loss of the weather channel. We watch the weather channel everyday at least 3 tmes, I have tried to watch the new accu weather. It is the most horrible weather channel I have seen. We have traveled all over the united states and have always been able to find the weather channel. This is a big loss, verizon is going to lose alot of customers to other servers who have the weather channel. Get it back and drop all the channels we don't need. I could supply a list of junk channels they could get rid of to save money. Thanks A Very disappointed customer!

Even before they dropped the Weather Channel I was having issues with the Weatherbug widget. It usually does not have a working hourly forecast, the top multi-day forecast quite often does not match the correct days, and it no longer saves additional cities. I'd complain direct to Verizon, but I can't figure out how. And to top it off, the new Accuweather channel with its mindless loop takes forever to get back to our area forecast. Bad job Verizon.

You say it was a "decision" not a dispute. Well sir, it was not our decision and we pay you.  Perhaps if you lived in an area with hurricanes, severe storms (summer and winter), flooding, etc. and you actually paid the outrageous prices we pay for your company, you too may have concerns with turning on your go-to weather channel to see the forcast for San Francisco when you live on the East Coast,  If you had any respect for your paying customers - you would allow us to make our own "decisions" - we are not sheeple. I would think your backhanded decision-making process of informing the paying customer after the fact would be worrisome to any stockholders who are watching you.

Accuweather is no substitute for The Weather Channel.  We don't need west coast weather.  Channel 49 was a fast convenient way to get current and forecasted weather for our town and the local region.  Verizon was thinking of its profits and not its customers.  Bad decision Verizon.

So I think this is the definitive answer on if TWC will ever come back:

(From the Accuweather Website)

AccuWeather is proud to partner with Verizon, America’s most preferred TV service provider rated #1 in picture quality by the 2014 American Customer Satisfaction Index, to bring a superior new broadcast channel to FiOS customers, providing the smarter choice in weather programming.

Looks like Verizon is their big launch customer.

But there is hope for improvement:

Post launch, AccuWeather will continue to enhance its programming features and benefits for FiOS TV customers, constantly evolving and improving products to serve customers, including a hyper-local, personalized weather experience with AccuWeather MinuteCast® Minute-by-Minute forecasts and interactive options in a cutting-edge, high quality and engaging presentation, providing highly localized, customized, and tailored programming.  The best in weather will keep getting better, serving customers with the all-weather content they want.
