Okay, just got off the phone with Mandy tech 2 and I believe her explanation.

If you have integrated messaging on your account, this is the "echo" so that you can log on to verizon.com and see all your texts from a laptop.  This has been going on for as long as  you've had integrated messaging.  What happened is that the systems that we end users have - they filter these records out.. until 2 days ago.

Now me as a coder/developer .. I look at 01/11 at 11am ( when they started happening to me) and I see a possible expiration date embedded in legacy code perhaps... 0111 1111 ..  maybe.

I have no idea! However, if someone could tell me something, it would ease my mind. Is it a porn site or something?

I don't know, but I sure would like to know! Yesterday I received a MSG USAGE ALERT text from Verizon telling me I had used 90% of my plan allowance, which by the way is 250. I couldn't believe that I had used that many, I checked the usage log and 008-000-4101 was listed as a number I had sent and received a text from multiple times. The only place this number appeared was on my log NOT ANY WHERE ON MY PHONE!

We've been having the same problem with seeing 008-000-4101 in our usage detail. It first occurred on our bill on the 11th at 5:22am. It was only on my wife's usage detail only. Of course, I thought maybe some shady stuff was happening because there wasn't anything on her text log on the phone itself. Needless to say, we argued. Then it occurred on my usage detail the same day at 9pm. It's been appearing on both of our usage detail under messages, but the number only appears as if we've texted the number ourselves. It never appears as recieving. We also noticed that the number only appears when when someone is texted first, even just texting each other. I spoke with Verizon agents for 2 days, as well as their Fraud department. As polite as they were, all had different answers, but no solution to stop this from happening. It still occurring to this very second.

This same number is also on mine and my boyfriend's logs. Only showing sent,  never received.  Very weird!

This is happening to me and my husband also! Exact same number! It's been driving me crazy trying to figure out what it is. On my bill, it's always showing it was texted TO, not FROM. Since January 11th, it has appeared on my text log ONLY, EIGHTY TWO TIMES!! It began appearing on my husband's text log at the exact same time, but it's only appeared on his FIFTY EIGHT TIMES! How do you even text a number like that?! I called Verizon and the man kept insisting they were INCOMING texts and they were coming from a computer! Neither me nor my husband ever received any texts from anybody, even when the time stamps indicate. Of course Verizon is "looking into it ", but I have yet to hear a thing from them. I'm so relieved that I'm not losing my mind, and I'm not alone in this!

* I would also like to add the possible reasons they said this was happening. The first agent said that my wife was texting the number, maybe she clicked on some ads, and that the number was a private network. So, they sent it to their Fraud department and they would call within 24 hrs. Then it started occurring on my phone. I then spoke with another agent the next day and they thought it was a masking app; which changes the number when someone is texted. Neither on of us has an app like that (We checked via Google Play store under each others apps, library, and previously installed). The agent could not figure it out, so she put me in contact with their tier 2 level personnel. She ran diagnostics on both phones and there wasn't any threats of any kind. She came to the conclusion that it is Verizon's Message+ app sending information to them assuring that everything is running smoothly, along with Wi-Fi information. She said that the 008-000-4101 was one of their codes. Seemed to make sense, but neither one of us use the Message+ app. Then the Fraud department called and they said that it was called "spoofing". They said that it is an app that anyone can download which uses any public number as their own when they text/call someone. Only issue with this answer is that the only place this appears on the usage detail of the bill is under messages and the number is only texted to via our numbers, with nothing in our message logs on our phones. Also, it only appears when we text someone; the number is texted first and then actual number is second, but it's simultaneously happening. We did notice that the number never appears when sending a picture/video message. I just wanted to shed light to the community that these were all the answers given to us. As I stated, no solutions though. Also to couples, don't fret. Your significant other isn't up to no good. It has to do with Verizon.

i am having the same issue on two lines.  It's been happening since 1/11 and I willing to bed my paycheck that this is something Verizon has done to the messenger app that is causing it.
