My boss graciously handed me this box... I dual boot Arch Linux as well as Windows 7.
I have used Windows 8 preview and also the dev version. It bothered me, but didn't bother me at the same time. My boss wants to see if it will be a permanent fixture within the company to use. I have to really try hard an unbiased opinion.

I know that I am certainly interested to find out how well Windows 8 will work with the professional environment. I always have multiple programs and often with multiple tabs too open at the same time with WinXP and Win7. I'm hearing things that it is quite different in Windows 8. Perhaps the Pro version offers the multi-tasking that people are used to.
Please let us know how it goes.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Multitasking is done differently. You still have your desktop, but you have a left side bar as well. If you are in "Metro"(they changed the name to something else due to potential CR issues) the bar is useful. I will take screen shots later.

I saw the OS in Costco today and wondered if I ought to go for it - I multi-task with dual monitors... would love to see some screen shots when you get a chance!

Will post them as soon as I am more familiar with everything. One thing that's pretty cool is if you have a multi monitor set up is that they have different wallpapers that rotate.

You know it's not as bad as people say it is. If you know all the shortcuts it's no different than Windows 7 other than cosmetics. Some shortcuts are different, but it's easy to remember what it does after a few hours.

I am just using keyboard and mouse. I actually have media keys as well with the keyboard. So everything works and I quick navigate through shortcuts like closing an app(alt-f4). Windows keys cycles through open applications.
Since that picture was taken it went from 32GB of Ram to 64GB(48GB ram disk). Went from an agility 3 ssd to a Samsung 840 pro ssd. 1200 watt power supplr and dual sli GTX670. Oh and also added 5 more HDDs for my raid.

Raid 5, but contemplating going to raid 10. Those I am running 2TB WD blacks. The Samsung 840 I just bought to replace the Agility 3(don't get the agility line from OCZ they are terrible).

I am running SSD just for my OS and my applications. The ram disk is for compiling.

That should have gave you a nice boost, how much are you dedicating to the ram disk configuration, also I would go with Raid 10 also for stability performance.
Oh Yeah, are you running liquid coolent with multiple radiators to regulate tempature? And if so are you using this method to cool the videos heatsink also?
Looking to rebuild my rig and I like your layout, I may have to copy your tricks.. Since I got out of gaming I kind of backed off building the monsters... Was a expensive hobby for me.

I run 48GB for my ram disk. I can scale it up or down. I am currently air cooled but I haven't figured out how I want to route my piping yet. I am kind of OCD when it comes to wiring and piping.
The case is a Cosmos 2 if you want to check out the case specs. It has room and is also intended to be either air or water cooled.
