Cell signal is terrible and keeps getting worse

I have been a Verizon customer for many years, and have been happy with the coverage, until recently.  I work from home and often use my cell phone, however, I literally cannot have a conversation without it dropping.  I'm not sure why the coverage keeps getting worse.  I will definitely need to switch carriers if coverage does not get better.  I don't live out in the boonies, there is no reason for such poor coverage.  I refuse to pay any more for a booster or whatever, as I feel this is Verizon's responsibility to provide cell coverage.  They are a cellular phone service provider, correct?  Maybe take some of that money they just spent on Yahoo and put into better cell service.  When I called the support line, they had no solutions whatsoever.

Verizon never guarantees connectivity INSIDE of any structure. There are too many factors that at play. Also, there may be buildings or trees or something that is new between the closest tower and your home. Cable companies and Verizon still offer landlines for home service.

So cell service is only guaranteed for outside, next to a tower?  For $300 a month, I expect a little more than that.

After my 3rd contact with Verizon, I ended up messaging with a very knowledgeable tech.  We determined LTE was the issue with calls, at least in my area.  We changed to LTE for data only and the call clarity is MUCH better.  While I understand cell phones will always be spotty, the previous service was completely unacceptable, as my phone was dropping both in and outside of my house (so it wasn't the inside the house issue).  Anyway - if anyone else is having the same issue, try switching your LTE to Data only and see if that works.  It did for me.

There is no need to be so extreme. I gave a reason why there may not have been good service inside your home. You also didn't state that you were having difficulty at home AND not at home.

Also, when you say to change LTE setting to data only, do you mean to disable HD Voice capabilities?

Well, I wasn't being extreme, but whatever.  You were the one ASSUMING I was only inside of my house.  It wasn't stated either way.

Anyway, on the iPhone under Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data Options, Enable LTE, switch it to Data Only.  The technician also disabled something on his end, but not sure that was necessary.

It worked for me and I can now make and receive calls INSIDE and OUTSIDE of my house.

Pretty extreme.

Your post----- I work from home and often use my cell phone, however, I literally cannot have a conversation without it dropping.

Most people do not work from home and sit outside. They usually have space set up for working from home so that they can have reliable internet.

Done with Verizon excuses. Paying premium prices and getting inferior service. I agree with you exactly. What has happened to verizon?

I have lived in the exact same spot for ten years. When I moved here I had full strength signal now I barely have one bar and 25% of my calls are dropped. This only happens when I am at home.

We have a personal and business account and ALL my phones do this.

Have called Verizon several times. No one comes out, no one responds, every single person you talk to has some garbage spiel about how it must be my phone or it something else that is "Not" Verizon's fault.

AT&T terrible but Verizon is now almost equal with them
