Military discount

Hi,

I am prior military and govt employee. I currently am on a shared plan but was thinking of switching to unlimited with at least 3 and maybe upto 6 lines if all my family decides to get on it

1) how is the military discount any different from the regular rates  - I see $30/line for both plans

2) I have been in auto-pay for many years but see no discounts

3) is there any issues with the data usage or freeze with unlimited plans?
