When I ported my line from Consumer Cellular, it took less than one hour for the number porting to complete. That was excellant service on Consumer Cellular's side for releasing the number and excellent service on Verizon's side for activating service on their side.
Within one month, I had transferred two numbers to Verizon and added one new line. When I decided to transfer one of the number to a VOIP service, Verizon would not release my number until my service renewed. They held my number for $40 ransom. The day after my service renewed, they allowed the transfer to complete. I talked with two agents with Verizon in order to get the number released. It took one week to port the number out.
Verizon has a very good network and they should not have to scam people to make money.
