I recently purchased a new iPhone at the Verizon store in Hoboken NJ 2 months ago, and the VERIZON SALES REPRESENTATIVE told me that I was eligible to receive a free iPad, that the service was included with my new phone, that my bill would remain the same, with the exception of the cost my new phone being included in the new bill. I asked several times if it actually free with no strings attached, and would I see any additional charges for it on my monthly bill. He told me I would see a new phone number affiliated with the tablet but no additional cost.
Now my bill includes the cost of the "FREE" iPAD: $459.99
As well as a MONTHLY PLAN of $20!
I have been with Verizon for almost 20 years and am shocked by the unscrupulous dishonesty!
CAN VERIZON PLAESE REACH OUT TO ME?
Hello mpk45. We know the importance of ensuring you receive the monthly plan and costs that you are expecting. We're truly sorry to learn that you feel that we have scammed you this way. I have sent you a Private Note. Please respond at your earliest convenience.
I responded to Verizon, and followed the directions.
I have not received any response from Verizon.
This situation is unresolved.
That's shady sales reps for you. Only pay for your service, buy your equipment elsewhere.
We would never want our customers to feel like this was not provided for you as needed. To futher review please send us a private message to review your account details.
I was also told that I was receiving an iPad for a $5 monthly fee, and now I am seeing that I've been signed up for ANOTHER unlimited plan and a $15 monthly device fee. This is a really terrible way to start a new service - I switched from AT&T because of my great experience with my work phone!
Hello, kdehaan89. We are very sorry to hear about the concern that has come up with your iPad line of service. We certainly are happy to assist with making sure that its charges are correct. So that we're updated, can you please describe how you were informed that this line of service would be $5.00 per month? -Brett
The same thing happened to me! I went to get my new phone and was offered a free iPad. I said I didn’t need an iPad and the sales rep was insistent that it was free and someone in my family could use it. Now I’m also stuck with a $21 a month additional fee and a 3 yr payment of $465 in total to pay for a free iPad.
Verizon and their sales reps should be ashamed of themselves for conning their customers in this way.
I had exactly the same experience. I was 'chatting' with the representative for an hour online, going through all the iPhone upgrade steps (to receive a free iPad and Apple Watch SE), and asked explicitly twice if there were any additional charges, and was told no, except for taxes, an upgrade fee, and a few other minor fees. Only when I got a 'printed receipt' did I realize that I had been signed up for additional service. This was NEVER mentioned. It was even difficult to tell from my online account since the iPad (and Apple watch) order didn't appear under the iPhone order. It took two subsequent calls to Verizon cancel the entire order, and I suspect getting a refund may be problematic.
I feel very misled but, like always, caveat emptor. Not hard to see who benefits from a 'free' iPad that ultimately costs $720 in charges. I still simply can't believe no one mentioned this to me throughout process. Verizon should be ashamed.
Hello, Steveg171! We understand how important is for you to get this resolved as soon as possible. To further assist you, I will be sending you PM, so we can check this out.
