What do I need to bring to the store when picking up my In-Store Pickup order?

The Verizon "ready for pickup" email said I only needed to bring a photo id and the credit card used to pay for the new phone.  Verizon In-Store Pickups FAQs said the same thing.  However, when I went to pickup the phone, they absolutely refused to give me the phone until I provided the Account PIN. 

I was so angry.  The phone was bought on my wife's verizon account.  She is a night nurse and sleeps during the day and blocks incoming calls. I had to go home to get the Account PIN from her. The Verizon store near me was closed, so I was at a store 15 minutes away from my home. It was a complete waste of time.  

Now, I'm wondering - who was right?  Are the "ready for pickup" email and FAQs correct and I did not need to provide the PIN?  ... or was the store right and I needed to give them the Account PIN?

We are sorry to hear that you had issues picking up your order at the store. There is no requirement for the account PIN. But they may have needed it to access the account to complete the in store pick up. Other then a valid photo ID, and the credit card used to purchase the order, you also need to be an account owner or account manager.  CassieG_VZW

It's basic account verification. You need to be an authorized user on the account and verify with the pin.

It just literally happened to me today, too. I drove 41 minutes to pick up the phone and the sales person online told me to bring my ID and the order number. When I get their, they asked the order number and then followed by my PIN. I told them that I do not have one and never did. Every time the robo answering machine ask me, I say Skip. The store manager adamantly responded to me that everyone has one. Finally I had to create the PIN in the store to get the phone. I was leaved because I was running late from work. I reached out the online Verizon sales person what they are asking me and he had texted me back, “really?🤔”. If I have my account app showing them the order, the order receipt and my ID, it is insane to solely rely on a PIN. It is just cynical.

I understand the need for verification but why should it be relied on solely on the PIN while you all other documents?
